Donnie
Rollins, a local contractor, has owned and operated Donnie Rollins
Construction since 1977, providing quality service and workmanship
in the city of Columbus, TX and surrounding areas.
He
has been involved in numerous organizations throughout the community.
He has served two terms on the Columbus Area Chamber of Commerce
Board of Directors. In his firt term he was a director, on his
second term he was voted on as vice-president of the board.
In
1994, Mayor Dr. Tom Hancher appointed Rollins to the Mid-Town
Park Planning Committee and, once the grant was approved, he was
appointed to the Mid-Town Park Task Force, on which he still serves.
Rollins is also presently a member of the Columbus Lions Club,
where he was recently appointed to a two-year term on the board
of directors.
"I
have enjoyed working with the community and, by being involved
with various organizations, I feel that I have an open mind to
the suggestions and concerns of the community." In 1998,
Rollins received the Sam Walton Business Leader Award for recognition
of his service to customers, respect for individuals and commitment
to strive for excellence.
Donnie
and his wife, Nora, have lived together in Columbus since 1976.
Nora is the production manager/advertising salesperson at The
Banner Press Newspaper in Columbus, where Donnie also works part
time as a sports photographer. They have one son, Donnie Jr.,
27 who completed his Bachelor of Business Administration in Computer
Information Systems from the University of Houston-Downtown. He
is currently a Technical Analyst for American International Group,
a global Insurance and Financial Services corporation.
